What a shame this guy was stopped by Police. A world with fewer politicians seems like it would be nirvana. Well, maybe next time.

Utah Highway Patrol (UHP) troopers arrested a 36-year-old Utah man on Wednesday who ran from police at more than 130 mph on his way to Missouri to murder former U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill (D-Missouri).

A police affidavit said a parked trooper first spotted George William Stahl at about 12:45 a.m. on Nov. 11, the Deseret News reported.

The trooper clocked Stahl going about 115 mph on Interstate 80 in Summit County in snowy conditions on slick roadways, KUTV reported.

  • “I activated my emergency lights immediately and the vehicle appeared to accelerate faster and pull away from me.
  • I caught up to the vehicle who was still traveling over 100 mph and the vehicle accelerated again and pulled away,” the trooper wrote in the charging documents.

The arrest affidavit said that troopers pursued Stahl’s vehicle and he reached a speed of over 130 mph while passing motorists in a reckless manner, KUTV reported.

Troopers were eventually able to lay down spike strips and successful deflate Stahl’s tires, bringing his vehicle to a stop, the Deseret News reported.

  • “Stahl was belligerent and appeared heavily intoxicated,” the trooper wrote in the affidavit.
  • “He smelled of an alcoholic beverage and his eyes were glassy and bloodshot.”

The trooper said there was an empty 12-pack of Budweiser beer and another partially-consumed 12-pack of beer in Stahl’s vehicle, the Deseret News reported.

They also found an unknown substance that has been sent to the crime lab for testing, KUTV reported.

Stahl told the troopers who arrested him that he was on Adderall, LSD, and beer.

“He stated that he was on his way to Missouri to kill [former U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill if she wasn’t dead already,”

The trooper said Stahl told him that he hit the spikes going 135 mph.

  • “Stahl made several real threats to Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill.
  • He stated that he was on his way to Missouri to kill her several times,” according to the arrest affidavit.

Troopers had Stahl taken to the North Summit Fire Station for a medical evaluation, the Deseret News reported.

Then he was transported to the Summit County Jail and booked him on charges of making a threat of terrorism, failing to stop at the command of police, reckless driving, speeding, DUI, and drug possession.

Threats of terrorism is a third-degree felony, according to KUTV.

Troopers wrote in the affidavit that Stahl behaved badly and acted belligerent while he was being taken to the jail, the Deseret News reported.
