Who would have thought the best pizza in America was right here in Pittsburgh?
Caliente Pizza & Drafthouse’s “Mee-Maw” pizza was awarded the title at the World Pizza Championships in Parma, Italy.

“It’s a five-day, fermented pan dough. Then I top it with a little bit of extra virgin olive oil, 3-year-old aged Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese and rapini, which is a green grown in Italy. It’s cooked with onions, shallots, pepper bacon and crushed plum tomatoes. Then it’s topped with porchetta, which is made in Italy. I sliced that and put it on the pan pizza then I topped it with shaved parmesan, a little bit of black pecorino, truffle cheese. Then I put it in the oven and it was good to go.”
