Just because they label something warming, doesn’t mean Mama Earth is going to pay any mind to them. Meteorologist James Spann tweeted the most up-to-date snow total models for the nor’easter that could dump nearly two feet of snow in some Mid-Atlantic and Northeast states through Thursday. 

Forty-five million Americans are under a winter storm watch as a powerful nor’easter is slatted to batter the East Coast Wednesday into Thursday. 

NOAA NWS Weather Prediction is calling the nor’easter a “major winter storm” that will impact the Mid-Atlantic and New England Wednesday into Thursday. 

• “Heavy, wet snow is expected from the central Appalachians through much of the interior Mid-Atlantic and across Long Island and southern New England,” NWS said, adding that “freezing rain and ice accumulations are expected in northwest North Carolina and across much of southwest and central Virginia and into central West Virginia.” 

• NWS said, “confidence is high” that this storm will result in “significant impacts including travel disruptions and power outages across much of the Mid-Atlantic, southeastern New York, and southern New England.” 

On Tuesday, the storm system is moving out of the Rockies and will bring a wintery mix into the southern Plains before colliding with cooler air further east. 

Here are some of the potential snowfall totals by the end of the week.

Bloomberg notes the nor’easter could be one of the worst December storms for New York in a decade. Parts of the state could receive between 12 to 18 inches of snow. The heaviest snow will blanket eastern Pennsylvania and western New Jersey, where some areas could see upwards of two feet. 

• “There is going to be a large swath from central Pennsylvania to southern New England that could see over a foot,” said Tyler Roys, a meteorologist with AccuWeather.
• “It’s been a while since we’ve had such an impactful storm.”
