ahhhhhh…. Does anyone give a shit?
Grammy award-winning singer Brandi Carlile is withdrawing from Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Summit over Kirstjen Nielsen’s participation.
“The Joke” singer, 38, announced Monday that she won’t lend her voice to an event that offers a platform to Nielsen, President Donald Trump’s former Department of Homeland Security secretary.
“Respectfully, I absolutely cannot support Kirstjen Nielsen having a voice among the most powerful and inspiring women in America. Her access to power is righteously over………. I forgive her. I mean no disrespect. I wish her well and hope that she comes to understand the error in her part of this shameful (family separation) policy.”Brandi Carlile
Nielsen implemented the Trump administration’s family separation policy after being appointed DHS secretary in December 2017. She resigned in April.
