Julie Adams, best known as the damsel in distress in 1954 classic horror film, The Creature From the Black Lagoon, has died at 92.
Adams had co-starred with many Hollywood Film and TV legends for more than 60 years. Universal Studios once insured her legs as a publicity stunt.
“……the most perfectly symmetrical [legs] in the world”
When offered the role in Creature From the Black Lagoon, Adams was hesitant. She considered the role as a step down from the leading lady spotlight of which she was accustomed.
“I thought, ‘The creature from what? What is this?'” ……..because I had been working with some major stars and so on. But I read it and said, ‘If I turn it down, I won’t get paid and I’ll be on suspension.’ And then I thought, ‘What the hay! It might be fun.’ And of course, indeed it was. It was a great pleasure to do the picture.”Julie Adams
